Job Description

OVERVIEW:

 

The Economic Development Manager is responsible for managing and executing, in cooperation with senior Chamber staff, several economic development projects to support business attraction and retention in the City of Beverly Hills. The Manager will also support as needed elements of Chamber of Commerce services, including supporting the Program Manager and others with executing Chamber event programming. 

The Economic Development Manager must demonstrate strategic thinking, a community oriented attitude, and the ability to implement complex initiatives in a timely and cost effective manner. Additional requirements are excellent people skills, being a team player and goal oriented with a track record of meeting and exceeding budget goals. The Manager reports to the Director of Economic Development and Government Affairs at the Chamber.

 

RESPONSIBLITIES:

 

· Support, manage and help execute a number of economic development, marketing and business support projects in collaboration with Chamber, City personnel and other partners.

· Support the Director of Economic Development and Government Affairs in being a liaison to the City of Beverly Hills and work with the City to cultivate a dynamic local economy.

· Maintain productive relationships with City officials as well as other local, state and federal stakeholders. 

  • Attend, support execution of, and manage where necessary Chamber programming functions, including Chamber networking events, educational events and advocacy meetings. 
  • Support Chamber leadership in advising the Chamber Board of Directors on important developments related to economic development and government affairs and guide the Board on taking positions of importance to business.
  • Support the successful execution to budget of economic development efforts and programs by staff (including monthly breakfasts and networking events) and attend events as needed for support.

· Assist Chamber members in the navigation of city government services where necessary.

  • As needed, track legislation and policy issues of interest to Chamber members, research and prepare memorandum on important issues, and support Chamber efforts in taking policy positions of importance to Chamber members.
  • Attend community meetings and engage in outreach as needed to support business goals in the community.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economic Development, Public Administration, Marketing, or a related field is required. 
  • Two to five years of experience in economic development, government and business affairs and/or marketing experience, preferably with a local government entity or business entity. 
  • Some knowledge of business attraction and retention tools/strategies.
  • Ability to skillfully handle a number of diverse tasks and to accurately keep track of responsibilities and due dates.
  • Strong communication and writing skills are required.

STATUS AND SALARY:

 

This is a full-time position. Evening and weekend work may be required on occasion. Salary range: 70K-75K upon experience. Excellent benefits including health care, dental, 401k.
